Day 31 - Lyndon River Rest Stop to Exmouth - Thursday 8th June 2017

Once again we were among the last to leave our rest stop this morning. Once under way we then stopped at the Krait and Potshot Memorial. The Krait was a captured Japanese fishing vessel used successfully by Australian seamen in a raid on Japanese shipping in Singapore during World War 2. Potshot was the name given to the operation staged by the US navy during World War 2 to establish a submarine base in Exmouth Gulf. Arriving in Exmouth we visited the shopping center for coffee and to purchase a couple of wet-suits in anticipation of doing a bit of snorkeling on Ningaloo Reef. From there we went to the RAC Exmouth caravan park after first filling up with fresh water at the Visitors Center. This is an excellent caravan park with great facilities and a large number of emus roaming around who also call it home or so it seems. Sue cooked up a delicious dinner of salmon, homemade potato chips and salad to finish off a wonderful day.
