Both of us got up quite early for us to have a shower and breakfast before heading down to the dolphin feeding at 7.45 am. This was a wonderful experience despite the large number of people attending. The dolphins (all female apparently) were playful and came very close to the actual shore almost touching the legs of the children nominated as the feeders. The male dolphins apparently are too aggressive to become involved and in fact it seems they are not at all involved in raising the young. There are two feeding sessions each day and despite us having been at the first Sue went back for a second helping, attending the second feeding while I attended to the motor-home. Eventually we managed to leave Monkey Mia having had such a lovely time. Our first stop was at Little Lagoon just before Denham. Next stop was in Denham so that we could access the internet to book ahead for Cape Range National Park beside Ningaloo Reef. That done we then set off and stopped once again at Shell Beach Conservation Park. This is an extraordinary beach that stretches for 60 km with the depth of shells up to 10 metres deep in places. The ocean here is such an intense shade of blue and the water is very salty as Sue discovered when going for a brief paddle. Wildlife spotted along the way included a couple of emus on the road close to Monkey Mia and many goats, seemingly wild but we are reliably informed that they are farmed along this stretch of coast. We pulled up for the night at Edagee Rest Stop a 24 hour campground with drop toilets, picnic tables and a dump point.
