On leaving Cliff Head South we drove a mere 100 km north to Geraldton and booked in at Belair Caravan Park. Before doing so, however, we visited the HMAS Sydney Memorial on top of a hill in town and also did a bit of shopping at Coles and Target. HMAS Sydney was lost off the West Australian coast with all hands (645 men) in a battle with the German Raider HSK Kormoran on 19 November 1941. Back at the caravan park we caught up on laundry tasks before joining many other of the camp guests at a roast beef roll dinner organised by the camp owners. Then it was time to sit down and watch the first State of Origin Rugby League in the communal TV room which unfortunately Queensland lost by a wide margin - 24 to 4 - very disappointing.
