We had a very leisurely start today. Our rest stop which was packed last night was virtually empty by the time we got going. There may have been only another two vans left by then. Once we got going we drove to Carnarvon some 40 km up the road and spent a little while driving around the town to familiarize ourselves with it as well as checking out the Wintersun Top Tourist Park as a possible place to chill during the upcoming school holidays. To our delight we found a Woolworths and proceeded to stock up on all manner of goods as well as getting a roast chicken for lunch. Lunch was had devouring parts of said chicken by the waterside. After lunch we drove to the One Mile Jetty a little way out of town on Babbage Island. The jetty has a small railway running along most of it's length but we chose to walk it despite the somewhat parlous state of the jetty timbers. Leaving Carnarvon we then drove as far as Lyndon River rest area to settle in for the night. A group of noisy backpackers spoilt things a little but we eventually got to sleep.
