Day 12 - Tammin Roadhouse to Perth - Saturday 20th May 2017

Scored a lovely free hot shower this morning at the roadhouse - caters for truck drivers and well appointed. We set off after breakfast for the remainder of the drive into Perth with a stop for fuel at Northam and a stop at the small town of Meckering which apparently was destroyed in an earthquake in 1968. We had a quick wander around the ruins of Salisbury, a homestead that was destroyed on that day. I think we arrived in Perth at around 11 am and found our way to Wembley where we caught up with our friends Helen and Pete at last. They were staying at Pete's cousins house while the cousin and partner (Carol and Ian) are staying further down the West Australian Coast at a holiday home they own. Helen had prepared a wonderful lunch for us which was gratefully received as we were famished. We stayed long enough to catch up on our respective travels and to inspect the recently purchased kayak they now had with them. And then it was off to Karrinyup Waters Resort, a Top 10 caravan park that we'd booked in at some time earlier. The weather was somewhat miserable, cold and rainy so our first impression of Perth was a little disappointing. No doubt it will improve.
