Day 27 - Hutt River Principality to Whalebone Bay - Sunday 4th June 2017

First order of business this morning after a shower was to explore Hutt River Principality. We took the 'tour' of this independent sovereign state and learned a great deal about the history of the dispute that led to the secession. The town site of Nain contained many interesting sites that we visited including the Government Office and Post Office, the Tea Rooms, a non denominational chapel, the historical society arcade with it's displays and also a unique building named Princess Shirley's Educational Shrine which was built to honor the late wife of the sovereign HRH Prince Leonard. On leaving Hutt River Principality we headed to Galena Bridge rest area as this also has a dump point which we needed to access. From there we then drove to Hamelin Pool in the Shark Bay World Heritage Area to view the most diverse and abundant marine stromatolites in the world. Then it was on to Whalebone Bay and a Parks and Wildlife 24 hour rest area with no facilities right on the beach. This was such a beautiful spot and other than ourselves I think there may have been two, or perhaps three, other vans there including one Avan M8, the same model as ours. We had a chat with the owners of the M8, drawn as one is, to share the experience of owning the same type of vehicle. Sue went for a short walk while I relaxed.
