Thursday morning I was up bright and early as I'd arranged with Helen and Pete to go on a glass bottomed bout tour of parts of Ningaloo Reef from Tantabiddi boat ramp. I was picked up at the RAC campground by Kate the bus driver for Ningaloo Ecology Cruises and I was to meet Helen and Pete at the boat ramp. At the boat ramp I quickly changed into my wet-suit in the toilet block before joining the others on-board the vessel. We then spent a very pleasant few hours out on the water viewing the fish and coral thought the glass bottom and also getting out among it all with our snorkeling gear off the back of the boat. At one point a turtle was kind enough to swim directly beneath us and we managed some fine photographs as a result. Sadly all good things come to an end and I had to say goodbye to Helen and Pete knowing that I wouldn't see them again until we all met up in Melbourne once more. Then it was back to Exmouth with a brief stop at the Vlaming Head Lighthouse. Dinner was less than remarkable forced as I am to cook for myself now that I'm on my own. Oh well, at least I know some rudimentary dishes so I won't starve.
Friday was completely forgettable as I did very little other than walk into town to query a government payment that had mysteriously arrived in my bank account. Back at the campground I prepared the motor-home for the beginning of the long trek back home to Melbourne commencing tomorrow. I'd stayed put long enough to see if there was any possibility of Sue flying back to this side of the continent and once it became clear this couldn't happen we decided I should drive back.
